Back to Bedlam Album is by James Blunt, the English singer-songwriter.
His debut studio album was released on the 11th of October 2004 under the Atlantic Records label. Upon release, the Back to Bedlam album received positive reviews in the music press, Sir Elton John praised James Blunt’s ( real name James Hillier Blount ) songwriting for the record.
The album is named after the infamous London psychiatric institution of Bethlem Royal Hospital, which is better known as merely Bedlam.
James played many of the instruments himself during the album’s recording. During that time he stayed with the late actress Carrie Fisher, who contributed in naming the album.
The Back to Bedlam album became a massive commercial success. In the United Kingdom, it was the highest-selling album of 2005 with sales of 2.4 million copies.
The British Phonographic Industry ( BPI ) certified it 10x Platinum for selling over 3 million copies by the end of 2009. The achievement made it the UK’s best-selling album of the decade.
At the time of writing, James Blunt’s debut album is the 18th best-selling album in the history of the UK Albums Chart. Worldwide sales are over 11 million copies.
Stand out tracks are ” No Bravery “, ” Tears and Rain ” and ” You’re Beautiful “, which was released on the 30th of May 2005 as the third single. It has gone on to be one of the singers best-known and most successful singles, selling well over 620,000 copies in the UK. In the United States, the single has sold over 3 million copies and is the only one of his songs to make it into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
